The Erie 2-Chautauqua-Cattaraugus BOCES ELA Forum brings together teachers of the English Language Arts from many of the region's schools. These are the unedited comments from this year's evaluation:
I learned…

Lots of stuff. How to create a Wiki. Information on Core Curriculum and State Ed updates. Lists of great resources to use in my classroom and share with my department members.
How to create Google Docs, Wikis, and how to use Shelfari. I also learned valuable information that pertains to testing, standards, and new college requirements.
How to create and navigate a wikispace and a googledoc. I also learned about a great tool, Shelfari, that I will bring back to my district to share.
How to create a WIKI
Funny. A very helpful day. I got to spend time with my Wiki and create a google account.
How to create a google document, wiki and shelfari.
I also got important updates from State Ed.
I came away with some technology tools that other teachers are using.

Additional tests in ELA for grades 9 and 10 PARCC
11th grade PARCC and Regents
I learned about new state mandates, and lots of new technology from other teachers.
...About Shelfari, wikispaces, and googledocs, more about the PARCC assessments and the future of the Regents exam for ELA
I learned about the changes in the ElA scoring and new graduation requirements. I was able to set up a wiki for my grade level and set up google docs.
A lot about Wikispaces
How to do a google doc.
Some good ideas about shelfari
Some possible changes in graduation requirements and Regents testing
How to work with a google doc.
About shelfari -
How to set up and work with a wiki
What technology is being used by our fellow teachers and school districts
These meetings have been extremely helpful in many ways. Being able to share ideas with other English teachers provided many ideas to use in the classroom. Technology ideas? Priceless!!!
I made a wiki and set up a google doc. I really like the shelfari website and will go back to my district and see how to have it unblocked.
Sooooo much!
NEWS AND NOTES from NYSED
Changes in Procedures...cannot use tests for training any more...will not be released any more…
They are absolutely...incredibly serious about the security of the test. In January, state unlocked files from the website ... no paper copies until they were downloaded to keep it secure.
CD's will be sent to the schools...two of them...training and audio...
Google docs...wikispace, Shelfari focus today.
Skype into Melinda's class (Denny's daughter) to see how they use it.
Can't use the test booklets...can't use student responses. May 2011 the math tests must be kept secure this year...2006-2010 will be available.
Technology use is huge...we need to teach it to our students!

NYS Regents updates and wiki
Everything.
All of the information was helpful.
I loved the information on Shelfari. I hope to create one for myself and share with my district.
Information about Shelfari and Wiki demonstration
News on the ELA
Most helpful were the discussions, collaborations and work time.
www.americanrhetoric.com public speaking: famousspeeches
www.ted.com Riveting talks by riveting people
www.studyzone.org Oswego City School District Test Practice; select level, then standard. Will provide a short activity
How to make a wiki, set one up.
Thank you!
The chance to actually create a wiki, and play with google docs.
Shelfari
I think my new wiki will help my grade level collaborate and share activities. It will also be useful as we begin science mapping.
Listening to the enthusiasm of the elementary students for Shelfari.
I really loved shelfari and will definitely use this personally and in class
Denny's willingness to answer questions.
The technology piece was very helpful and informative!
One of my favorite parts of attending these is to be informed as to what is going on at state ed and how it is going to affect me, my grade level and district.
I actually feel that all information was equally important to me. There was very little that we did that did not apply to my students directly.
Having time during the forum to work on setting up these accounts. I often get back to school with good intentions of putting what I've learned into use but don't end up doing so. This has been GREAT!
The time we had to create wikispaces and use Google Docs was so valuable as I often do not have a chunk of time when I don't have a million distractions.
Technology sharing among teachers
Having the time to work on developing a wikispace while having Denny to help right then and there when questions arose
Having time to experiment with Google docs
Least helpful…
Everything was useful for myself or my co-workers.
I love everything about this Forum
The handout for the three techno sites. There were no directions. When we were given time to start on our own to set up google.docs, wikispaces, etc. many of us weren't sure what to do.
